She caught him mid-sip, and he had to remember not to try and talk around a mouthful of tea. Last time he did that, he’d almost choked. An experience he’d really like not to repeat.

“Well, some of the animals die, and no one really likes to watch that, but it’s what happens in nature so it’s not as bad. It’s brilliant otherwise though!” He nodded, hopefully reassuring Steph.

She nodded some and put her tea down “I can’t wait to watch it” she says gently. With a quick innocent smile over at Arthur, she opened her palm up timidly towards Arthur and felt herself blush slightly.

Arthur had just managed to put his tea down before the lump of a dog leapt at them, finally distracted from the birds and instead deciding that he would rather like cuddles instead.

“Yes! It’s brilliant! It’s my favourite thing on telly, I’ve watched each episode twice! There are some sad bits, though,” he warned very seriously. “Snoop likes everyone, really!”

She gently scratched behind the dog’s ear as he situated himself between Arthur’s and her own lap. “He’s really rather sweet too” she said with a smile. She looked over, brow quirking “Sad parts?” she asked gently.

“Then that’s really lucky! He must be cleverer than Mum says, because he’s not been here before. But then it is close to the park. Hmm.” Arthur took his tea with a smile and a thanks, before retreating from the kitchen, pushing Snoop from the back of the chair he’d fashioned into an angry barky dog throne, and sitting on the sofa.

“Yeah! And lions and zebras and everything else that’s in Africa really. It’s brilliant, you should watch it. It’s called…” He had to think for a second, face wrinkling slightly in exertion. “Africa!”

She sat beside him slowly and smiled “I’ll have to record it or find it on DVD” she laughed some, sipping her tea happily, glancing over at him fondly before she had a lapfull of Snoop. “Well… apparently he likes me” she laughed gently.

“Is it warm?” he frowned. “I don’t really know where it is. But in that case, I don’t need my think pyjamas. Brilliant!” Her jokes went over his head as he stood and fiddled with the cuff of his jumper sleeve.

At her question, he hummed, thinking hard. Arthur tended not to remember what he had done… well, ever. Apart from flights, he remembered those.

“Ah” And he remembered. “I baked a pie! And it was brilliant. And then I watched a documentary with elephants, and then I took Snoopadoop to the park a few times. This is the first time he’s run away though. It’s lucky you found him!”

“He showed up on my doorstep” she grinned lightly. “I was going to go out and do a bit of shopping” she smiled lightly. “I ran out of washing tablets” she laughed a bit shyly. “Elephants?” she asked with a smile, fixing Arthur’s tea up before passing it to him “Your tea sir” she smiled lightly.
